The middle syndicate's current staff are Margaret Allen (Syndicate Leader), Karen Andrews, Audrey Yap, Carolyn Neary, and Erin O'Doherty. Assisting our classroom programs are Anna McLeod (Music specialist), Lydia Brown (Sports and Physical Education), Leigh Takirau (Te Reo), a Mandarin Language Assistant, Susan Bines (Rainbow Reading) and Shelley Caldwell Carle (STEPS - literacy support).
The students in our syndicate are grouped within classes according to their individual learning needs for literacy and numeracy. Teachers plan together to integrate all curriculum areas and when appropriate e-learning and opportunities for education outside of the classroom are incorporated. Our goal is to transition the students to become independent, intrinsically motivated, lifelong learners. We consciously weave the Churchill Park learner qualities (team player, communicator, risk taker, problem solver, creator) into our daily programmes.
We encourage our students to engage in a number of extra-curricular activities e.g. choir, jump jam, wetlands and garden club, netball, flippa ball, basket ball and kapa haka.
Recent highlights have been our trips to the Maritime museum, Botanic Gardens, Wacky Olympics, visits from the Tread Lightly caravan, Big Foot Adventures, the Life Education caravan and the Bee Lady which all support our authentic and engaging curriculum.
