The Board of Trustees would like to thank you all for the support you have provided to the school since the fire in the IT and Library building. Your generosity has been a lovely positive focus for the school staff and Board as we negotiate all the issues in the aftermath of the fire. The school has incurred unexpected costs as a result of the fire (eg, the car park redevelopment plan will have to be revised, some of the fittings in the temporary IT and library buildings wont be reusable in the new building and also when replacing some items we may upgrade them to increase their longevity).
We are working methodically through all the requirements and documentation to make the appropriate claims on our contents and building insurance and we hope to begin replacing some items in the next couple of weeks. Securing funding to replace some of the core IT infrastructure such as servers is a current priority and Mark Webster our IT Specialist is prioritising our needs currently. We are grateful to Mark for all the work he has done to make the school IT systems functional again.
A sincere thank you also to Rebecca Varndell, the school Finance Manager for all the work she has done to co-ordinate the process and provide the inventory details to support the claim.
The site has been made safe and is being used for additional parking spaces currently.
The new temporary buildings are being fitted out, wired and alarmed ready for use in the new year.
The development of the car park which was planned to commence early in the new year has been put on hold however the Ministry has released funding for us to clear the redundant buildings in the car park area and rehouse the electricity and gas boiler.
The fire report is expected to be completed in the next 2 weeks and we will receive a full report of the findings.
Thank you again for your ongoing support.
