The Churchill Park Board of Trustees is pleased to announce exciting news for the whole school community. The Ministry of Education has approved funding and plans for the interior redevelopment of Rooms 1, 2 and 3 - and associated toilet block – in order to create a modern and flexible learning environment for our Intermediate students.
The work will result in:
· Three renovated, more flexible classrooms - Rooms 1,2,3
· A renovated toilet block
· A new learning / activity space created from the Room 3 /4 toilet area.
The renovation will begin in the coming school holidays, in order to minimise disruption. The work is scheduled to continue for 12 weeks, so we hope that classes will be back in their usual spaces for the beginning of term 4.
In the meantime, for next term, students from rooms 1, 2 and 3 will move into alternative spaces for the duration of this project: Room 1 will go into the STA room, and Rooms 2 & 3 will move into the library. The library will be closed and the books will be moved into classrooms.
Many thanks to the PTA, who are fundraising hard this year to provide $60,000 for the development of the new learning / activity space. The PTA had accumulated $20,000 by the end of 2017, which is being put towards this project. The plans have been tweaked slightly since the fundraising began and the PTA are pleased to support the new learning / activity space which will be a wonderful asset to the school community.
